Taswater advised today that a sewer main at the end of Victoria Street has burst, causing sewage to flow into the stormwater and then onto the beach. Crews are on site and the leak is expected to be fixed today.
Contact with the water in this area is to be avoided. Water testing is underway. When the results show it is safe to swim again, warning signs will be removed. Results should be known mid next week.
