With a focus on the provision of training and job pathways for people in our region, Snowy Monaro Regional Council is working with TAFE NSW to address ongoing local needs.
Council recognises the challenges for people in region who want to study and work locally, and would like to support this process in key areas such as aged care services, leisure and health, automotive and heavy vehicle mechanics.
Training opportunities within the region through TAFE NSW that support careers in residential aged care include the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) which will equip those seeking to enter the field of aged care with necessary skills and a career progression opportunity through a Certificate IV in Ageing Support that will equip prospective employees with the skills necessary to lead and manage teams.
Career pathways in-region are often hard for young people to understand or realise so there is an education element around this which fits strongly with the traineeship, cadetship and apprenticeship programs that Council runs regionwide. The Workforce Team from council works closely with local schools and the region’s youth to ensure there are opportunities for them to stay in region, study and work.
Residents who are interested in updates on Council’s career programs should email [email protected] to be included in future communications.
