This year we are proud to announce our two local guest speakers, Mandy Hose and Kate Jones, co-hosts of the hugely successful ‘Too Peas In A Podcast’.

Come along and hear how these two mothers came together to find a voice in the silent world of parenting multiples with disabilities and additional needs, and in doing so started their very own revolution.

Mandy runs her own business and loves her family. She wants no one to feel alone while parenting on the road less travelled. Kate is a stylist who runs her own home staging business. She has five children, including identical twin boys, who were her inspiration for starting the ‘too peas’.

Very little is off limits as these two women chat in a raw and honest way of sharing their truths with audiences, something which has earned them an international following and many fans around Australia.

International Women’s Day (IWD), held annually on 8 March, unites millions of women across the world. Ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences are put aside to celebrate this important date, which represents equality, justice, peace, development and participation in political and economic processes.

Maroondah Mayor, Cr Kylie Spears, said supporting IWD was one of the many ways in which Council actively encouraged and promoted equality.

“Maroondah is a strong supporter of women in leadership and those who inspire others in the face of adversity, and we are delighted to have Mandy Hose and Kate Jones as this year’s motivational guest speakers,” Cr Spears said.

“This annual event is an opportunity for all community members to celebrate the contribution women make to their workplace, their family and their community,” she said.

“So please join us for a morning of laughter, and possibly a few tears, as Mandy Hose and Kate Jones chat about creating a podcast that reaches out to support people parenting children with disabilities and additional needs, and along the way discovered a connection with an audience of supportive, strong and determined women,” Cr Spears added.

“While the topics they delve into are no laughing matter, Mandy and Kate’s natural ability to cut through and let the audience see the funny side of their emotional ups and downs is what has given them such a loyal following.

“The IWD breakfast is open to the entire community, so feel free to bring a friend, make up a table or simply come along to hear some words from our inspiring speakers and enjoy a breakfast amongst friends,” she said.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge

Too Peas In A Pod merchandise will be available for purchase following the breakfast.
