Fremantle launches the Together Again Café

The City of Fremantle, with the support of a $15,000 grant from the Department of Communities, is launching the Together Again Café to reconnect socially isolated people with their neighbours and local community.

Held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Fremantle Park Sport & Community Centre, the Together Again Café is a free social outing centred on bringing people together.

Hosted by Louise Towler from Authentic Comedy, the monthly event offers patrons healthy morning tea is provided alongside live entertainment from a variety of cultural performers.  

City of Fremantle Community Development Officer Kay Raymond said she hoped the inaugural project would tackle loneliness in the community by bringing people together.

“We want the Together Again Café to celebrate older people, cultural diversity and people of all abilities, and enable everyone to feel welcome, safe and happy in their own community,” Kay said.

“If you have a neighbour who lives on their own and might be a little lonely, I’d encourage you to invite them and offer assistance if they need help registering their attendance or organising transport.”

Together Again Café is an initiative of the Neighbour to Neighbour program, which was created to support residents experiencing isolation, financial insecurity and other disadvantages during the pandemic.
