Golden Square Park has received a facelift!
The upgraded park now features a new playground and nature play area, half-court basketball court with basketball and netball hoops, walking path, picnic facilities with seats and shelter and landscaping throughout.
Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Peter Maynard said the upgrade provides Hoppers Crossing residents with a great place to walk and exercise, a fun space for kids of all ages and plenty of shade for the summer months.
“This $660,000 Wyndham City upgrade has been jointly funded by the State Government through a $325,000 Growing Suburbs Fund grant,” Cr Maynard said.
“I’d like the thank the Government for their generous contribution and also thank the residents who took the time to tell us what improvements they wanted to see at the park during our community consultation phase.”
Cr Maynard said the Golden Square Park upgrade was part of Council's strategy to address ageing infrastructure within several Wyndham reserves as detailed in the Play Space Strategy and Open Space Strategy.
“We know how important it is for our residents to have access to open space, close to home,” Cr Maynard said.
“The Golden Square Park upgrade has created a space that the whole family can enjoy.”
