For some time, water restrictions have been imposed in Mungindi under Council’s Water Supply Schemes Drought Management Plan.
Due to recent rainfall across the Shire and river flows, Council has re-evaluated the water restrictions in place for Mungindi and determined that water restrictions will no longer apply in Mungindi from Wednesday 24 February 2021.
River flows are now being used to supplement Mungindi’s potable town water supply through a combination of artesian water and river water to shore up capacity to supply Mungindi’s town water.
Mayor Katrina Humphries was excited to deliver the good news to Mungindi residents, stating “We’ve been blessed with a relatively mild summer and our community and others in our catchment have enjoyed some summer rains, even if it has been a bit patchy across the board.
“We now have the capacity to comfortably supply potable water to Mungindi in the quantities usually needed now and for the foreseeable future.
“A very big thank you to Mungindi residents for their efforts in helping us to get to this position,” said Mayor Humphries.
