Gannawarra Shire residents and visitors have until 7pm Sunday, 14 March to use the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools before both venues close for autumn and winter.
Both facilities have been popular for residents and visitors to the area since the 2020/21 season began in mid-November.
“A dedicated team of lifeguards have worked over 4500 hours ensuring a visit to our outdoor swimming pools was a safe and enjoyable one,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Our outdoor swimming pools are more than a place to keep cool during the warmer months of the year. The pools provide a safe place for children to learn to swim and for everyone to keep active.”
With the end of the 2020/21 season approaching, the following arrangements will be in place from Monday, 1 March 2021:
The Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be open between 3pm and 7pm. Extended opening hours will be in place for Labour Day on Monday, 8 March, with both facilities open from 12 noon to 7pm. Water slides at both facilities will operate between 3pm and 6pm Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Due to the Cohuna Fishway project, the Cohuna Swimming Pool car park will be closed. Patrons are encouraged to park at the neighbouring Cohuna Bowls Club.“Users of the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools are reminded that as per the Weather Temperature Policy, outdoor pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either town is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“Any changes to the operational hours of the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools, which may be due to inclement weather, high winds or storm events, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page, located at www.facebook.com/gannawarra.”
