You don’t win the grand final without a good coach, so why do many small business owners go it alone?
In business, just like the sporting field, success depends on having a good mentor to bring out your best.
“A good coach challenges your thinking, supports you but also holds you to account to make sure you achieve your dreams,” Shaker International Lead Trainer Shekib Shaker said.
Corangamite Shire Council will present a series of free events to help business owners improve their skills in problem solving, goal setting and emotional resilience in challenging times.
“I encourage every business owner to take a bit of time from their busy schedule to work also on the business rather than only in it,” Mr Shaker said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity created by Corangamite Shire for entrepreneurs to reflect on their business journey so far, work through some obstacles and maybe come up with new ways of doing things.”
Council Economic Development and Events Officer Tammy Young said participants would leave the Life Coaching for Business Owners workshops with new skills and a personalised action plan.
“Business owners face a variety of challenging situations at work and at home, especially now during the coronavirus pandemic” Ms Young said.
“We have asked Shaker Training International to run three sessions.
“The first will help participants recognise how their emotions can get in the way of making the right decisions at work and in life.”
“Cameron Young from Sinnotts Accountants in Warrnambool will be at the second session to give financial guidance for business improvement and growth.
“The third workshop will develop personal action plans that identify potential difficulties and opportunities and map out the next steps.”
The workshops will be offered individually either be face-to-face or remotely – depending on coronavirus restrictions. They will start in March and run two to three weeks apart.
