A substantial bequest from the estate of prominent Cooma resident Stella Reid has resulted in significant upgrades and improvements at Yallambee Lodge.
The funds have so far been used to install wall-mounted televisions with included streaming services, 15 high-low beds and king single beds to improve resident’s safety and comfort, and work is currently underway on Stella’s – an integrated hair salon within the Yallambee facility.
“Following her passing, a bequest from Stella’s estate was made to Yallambee Lodge where she had spent her final years,” said Mayor Peter Beer, Snowy Monaro Regional Council.
“Ms. Reid’s incredible generosity has enabled significant quality-of-life upgrades to the facility that could not have been budgeted for otherwise. The Snowy Monaro owes Ms. Reid our immense gratitude for more than a lifetime of charity and kindness.”
Stella was renowned in the local community for her unwavering support for those in need. Through her selfless volunteer work with Cooma’s Pink Ladies, Stella supported patients receiving treatment at Cooma hospital for decades.
Thanks to her unending generosity, current and future residents of Yallambee Lodge will enjoy these upgrades improvements for many years to come.
All purchases and disbursement decisions have been made in consultation with the executor of Stella’s estate, ensuring the bequeathed funds are utilised in a manner which Stella would have approved.
The total sum bequeathed was $114,445.20.
