Isaac awards to celebrate powerhouse women

Seven communities across the Isaac Region will this month mark Queensland Women’s Week by celebrating the powerhouse females who enrich and strengthen their communities.

Inspiring Women in Isaac ceremonies will be held in Clermont, Dysart, Glenden, Ilbilbie, Middlemount, Moranbah and Nebo.

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the events would recognise the contributions of women whose contribution make Isaac communities a better place to live, work and play.

“I am encouraging everyone to come along to these ceremonies to support nominees and award winners, creating a more equal Queensland where everyone is valued,” Mayor Baker said.

“Nominees are local female role models and leaders, as well as being mothers, grandmothers, sisters, wives and daughters. “Our nominees are an inspiration, encouraging the world around them to lead, learn, and earn.”

Mayor Baker said the Inspiring Woman in Isaac and Inspiring Young Woman in Isaac awards will be announced at local events between 4 and 13 March 2021.

“Queensland Women's Week is an expansion of International Women’s Day, held annually on 8 March, providing a week-long, State-wide celebration of the achievements of Queensland women and girls.

“Here in the Isaac region, we’re not short on inspiring women who lift others up, give selflessly and break through barriers. The theme for Queensland Women's Week 2021 is ‘Celebrate our present. Own our future’.

“The theme encourages us to reflect on the achievements of women in managing a year impacted by additional challenges and to look to a future made brighter as a result of the efforts of women in various roles.”
