Over recent years, the resilience of our country has been put to the test on multiple fronts; early last year our skies were blurred with flames and smoke; storms and floods followed, and then our greatest challenge arrived with COVID-19 sweeping the globe. Each and every time, our community has shown great strength to rise above these challenges.
We are now commencing the development of the Northern Beaches Council Resilience Strategy that will continue to build the collective resilience of our community from impacts such as natural disasters, pandemics, climate change, economic downturn, failure critical of infrastructure and the like. The Strategy aims to prepare and strengthen our community by enabling us to withstand, adapt and transform in the face of adversity.
To ensure the Strategy truly reflects the strengths of our community and identifies opportunities to overcome our vulnerabilities, we want you - our community - to get involved. We will have numerous opportunities for you to get involved over the coming months as we develop the Strategy. Start today by completing our survey.
Mr Shane Fitzsimmons, last year’s Australian of the Year and head of Resilience NSW said building resilience must start at the grassroots level. Building resilience in our local communities, our ability to withstand, prepare for and rebound after disruptions is important.
