Applications are now open for the Annual Blue Mountains City of the Arts Trust Grant Program.
The grant program provides funding for individual artists and eligible organisations to deliver projects that encourage arts quality and innovation, strengthen the local arts sector and engage the local community and visitors as both participants and/or audiences. There are three separate grant streams offered in 2021:
The Small Grants Round: Individuals is for individual artists applying for funding to a maximum amount of $2,000. The Annual Grant Round: Individuals and Organisations is for individual artists/creative professionals and not-for-profit organisations who are income tax exempt and offers funding to a maximum amount of $10,000 for their projects.Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “The City of the Blue Mountains is an inviting place for artists to live and work and they in turn make the Blue Mountains a vibrant and dynamic place to live and visit.
“Blue Mountains City Council is proud to support these artists and arts organisations through the City of the Arts Trust.”
The Blue Mountains City of the Arts Trust was created to build on the City’s reputation of being the State’s inaugural City of the Arts. The Blue Mountains City Council is the Trustee and each year Council contributes $50,000 to the Trust to administer a grants program.
In 2020 Blue Mountains City Council also stepped in to assist local artists adversely affected during pandemic and COVID-19 pandemic restrictions with Quick Response Grants. The program provided 10 grants of $2000, which enabled local artists to engage in web-based projects, research or studio works.
