International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The International Women's Day theme for 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge.
This year, Brimbank City Council is hosting a live panel discussion with local women leaders and music and dance from local performing artists. The panel discussion will feature Brimbank CEO, Helen Morrissey, Cr Ranka Rasic, Mayor of Brimbank City Council, Aunty Joyce Cooper, an Aboriginal Elder and Brimbank Citizen of the Year, Dr Mimmie Watts, a public health expert at Federation University and Darlene Ladio, local business owner of Green Empire Street. Music and dance will be performed by Ag Johnson and The House Dance Group.
