Look no further for something to do this Parks Week (6-14 March).

From bike events to bushwalking and everything in between, Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee Cr Tim McMahon said there was something for everyone in the large list of activities available.

“We’re trying to encourage all residents to make their way to one of our parks in March,” Cr McMahon said.

“On top of the regular activities available through the CHANGE project, we’ve got a full program that caters to all ages and ability levels.

“This includes boot camps, active kids sessions, walking groups, parkrun, community bushwalks, the Highfields Falls Park Open Day and much more.”

Activities scheduled for Parks Week include:

Wildlife Warriors Bioquest (nature treasure hunt) Play the world's first mobile game that takes you outdoors to discover, map and ultimately help protect life on our planet. Your sightings contribute to real research and conservation. When: March and April

Highfields Falls Open Day Friends of the Escarpment Parks Toowoomba invites you to come and explore the ecology and natural wonders of Highfields Falls Bushland Park. Where: Highfields Falls (James Byrne Road Entrance) When: Saturday 13 March from 7.30am Cost: Free

Community Bushwalking Program The Toowoomba Bushwalkers Club is giving back to the community by offering a free community bushwalking program suitable for beginners or anyone who is new to bushwalking and wants to experience some great walking tracks within the Region, learn some great tips and share stories with experienced club members. When: 6 March – Highfields Falls, 27 March – Mt Peel, 16 May – Fantail and Firetail trails, 20 June – Crows Nest National Park, 18 July – Applegum Walk, 7 August – Ravensbourne National Park. Cost: Free

Bike with Toowoomba Event Join Bicycle Queensland for the first ever Bike with Toowoomba event. Hop on your bike and join the fun with plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. There will be a bike maintenance workshop, free guided commutes and bike safety checks plus heaps of resources for those wanting to learn more about cycling in Toowoomba. When: Sunday 14 March, 10am – 1pm Where: Civic Square (behind the Toowoomba City Library)

CHANGE project A range of activities including Bootcamps, Seniors and Gentle Exercise Classes, Zumba and Jungle Body, Kids Activities, Heart Foundation Walking Groups, Parkrun, Eco Gym Program, Community Garden, Social Croquet and Outdoor Gyms.

Picnic park pack In celebration of Parks Week we're running a competition for the month of March where a picnic park pack (picnic rug, picnic backpack and games set) to the value of $170 is up for grabs. Simply visit a park during the month of March in the Toowoomba Region or a CHANGE Project park activity and send us a photo to [email protected], telling us what you love about the park/activity.
