This Week at Council Community Announcements/Latest News Works schedule – Unsealed road grading program for 1 March – 5 March 2021 Graces Flat Road - in progress. Mundays Lane - completed. Gooda Creek Road - completed. Garryowen Road - in progress. Bendenine Road - start 11 March. Progress on major projects Burrinjuck Bridge 1 -  Piles and abutments are in place, the installation of road works and bridge planks is to commence this week. Burrinjuck Bridge 2 – design has been finalised, works are to commence next week. There will be changed traffic conditions in place during the construction period as the bridge is going to be constructed as two halves. There will be no heavy vehicle access until further notice (expecting by mid-April), and the bridge will be one lane of approximately 3.2m for vehicles to cross and will have a 5 tonne load limit. Garryowen Bridge – roadworks to be finalised followed by sealing in the next couple of weeks. Nanima Road – works progressing well, road rehabilitation underway. Wee Jasper Segment 68/Good Hope Road – progressing well onsite, road works underway. Bango Bridge – preliminaries studies are underway. Dog Trap Road - Hewatt Civil has accepted the contract to undertake works along Dog Trap Road. Council has met with the team from Hewatts and is preparing the documentation to allow us to commence on site. It is expected works will start sometime next week. Wellington Road Pump Station

Wellington Road sewage pump station construction works are now well advanced. Excavation works at the pump station site will continue. Directional drilling of the sewer rising main along Meehan Street will start.

Walker Park

Contractors will be setting up on site at Walker Park to commence works on the grandstand from Tuesday, 9 March 2021.

This will mean the road access along the first level (the road alongside Jim Beck Oval) will be closed to all traffic during the entire construction, which is estimated to take until early June to complete.

Maintenance work on trunk mains

Overnight maintenance works to Council’s trunk water mains last week have been completed. As a result of these works, however, some residents may experience water discolouration.

TfNSW scheduled works on Hume Highway

TfNSW is installing Audio Tactile Line Marking (ATLM) on sections of the Hume Highway between Menangle and Yass. They will be working on both northbound and southbound lanes installing ATLM to edge lines for about 93 kilometres in total, with the work being carried out from Sunday, 14 March for about 10 weeks, weather permitting. They will be working Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm and Saturdays between 8am and 1pm. During the work a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h and a single lane closure will be in place at the installation location at the time. Motorists will be advised to allow up to five minutes additional travel time and follow the direction of signage and traffic control. While this line marking may contribute to occasional increases in road noise, it is important road safety work for our road customers and is a highly effective road safety treatment known to reduce crashes.
