Snowy Monaro Regional Trails Masterplan

Beginning this week, workshops will be held in Michelago and Jindabyne to discuss plan development and we encourage residents to get involved. Online feedback and workshops across the region will give the community an opportunity to have their say.

Tredwell Management are assisting Council through this process. They’re experts in trails and outdoor recreation having great success assisting other councils with similar projects.

Council Extraordinary Meeting

Last week, Council convened an extraordinary meeting to discuss a proposed funding application for the Monaro Rail Trail. While the motion ultimately failed to pass, the outcomes from this meeting were positive for the future of the project.

We will seek community feedback before making any financial commitments and will take time to understand details more fully. We will continue to work with MRT Inc. to secure appropriate funding for this project which we support and are excited to see come to fruition.

Selwyn Redevelopment Underway

It was an honour to attend the sod-turning for the rebuild of Selwyn Resort last week. As a major employer, tourist attraction and local favourite, it was heartbreaking to witness its destruction in the Black Summer bushfires.

I was privileged to be joined by local MP and Deputy Premier John Barilaro at the event, along with Deputy Mayor and Adaminaby local Lynley Miners, representatives from National Parks and Wildlife Service, and the Blyton Group.

Selwyn will be back bigger and better than ever, with the end result being a gem for the growing tourist area around Adaminaby and for our region.

Country Show Season in the Snowy Monaro

It was a great pleasure to attend the Dalgety Show on Sunday. 2021 will go down as one of the Show’s best turnouts in recent memory.

The last show on the calendar before the pandemic hit, it was fitting that Dalgety was the first show to resume. It was great to see a large number of our residents visiting Council’s information stands. We look forward to the upcoming country show at Bombala on 20 and 21 March.

I extend gratitude and congratulations to the Dalgety Show Society for their incredible effort in getting the show off the ground this year so successfully. A fitting success for their all-woman team to kick-off NSW Women’s Week 2021.
