A $2.85 million project to continue upgrades to Griffiths Park has been endorsed by Council.

The project is part of a $5 million upgrade for Griffiths Park, which includes the recently completed upgrade to lighting on Field 1 (Stage 1a).

Council received State Government funding of $1 million for the upgrade under the Active Communities Infrastructure program.

Council will now progress with Stage 1b of the Griffiths Park upgrade, which includes improve access, new car parking with CCTV and drop off zone, open plaza, cricket practice wicket pad and lighting, new maintenance shed, irrigated landscaping, feature fencing and connection pathways.

The lighting upgrade (Stage 1a of the project), involved the erection of four new light towers, about 41 metres in height, to provide 500 lux lighting for the infield and 300 lux to the outfield, which ensures the venue’s compliance as a Class II facility as specified by the Queensland Cricket Infrastructure Strategy.
