To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 10 March ordinary meeting.

Vibrant Communities 

Planning Application PLA0254/19 - 135 Petersons Rd, Ellinbank

Council moved to issue a Notice of Decision to Grant a Planning Permit - PLA0254/19 - 135 Petersons Rd, Ellinbank subject to the conditions in the delegate report.

Council Position on Kindergarten Infrastructure Investment

Council moved to

Commit to proactively seeking funding opportunities for co-investment in kindergarten infrastructure for three and four-year-old children, including the upgrade of existing assets and the provision of new or expanded infrastructure to accommodate population growth as required; and Continue to advocate and seek State and Federal support for all future projects to maximise the benefits of sufficient quality infrastructure whilst minimising the financial burden on the ratepayers of Baw Baw Shire.   

Placemaking Program Projects - Longwarry North, Modella and Seaview

Council endorsed the projects in the following townships for the 2020-2021 Placemaking Program, up to a value of $50,000 (excluding GST) per town:

Longwarry North

An extension to the Princes Way walking track from the existing walking track at Thornell's Reserve.

Modella

Improve the tennis courts at the Modella Recreation Reserve through linemarking, surface patching and tree removal to prevent further damage to the playing surface; and

Construct a crushed rock parking area and provide entry improvements at the Recreation Reserve; and Remove the existing shed at the Recreation Reserve. Seaview

Construct BBQ facilities (including a shelter) at the Seaview Hall, and if budget allows:

Install lights around the outside of the Seaview Hall; and Install a cooktop in the Seaview Hall kitchen. Aberfeldy Placemaking Program 2020-21 

Council endorsed the construction of a toilet block at 33 High Street, Aberfeldy as the preferred project for the 2020/21 Aberfeldy Placemaking Program; and

Moved to formalise an agreement with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), as the land owner of 33 High Street, Aberfeldy, to construct the toilet block; and Work with DELWP to resolve Native Title requirements of the site, liaise with the Aberfeldy & District Association and DELWP to formalise a maintenance approach to the proposed toilet block before it is constructed and include a sum of up to $16,000 into future budgets for the ongoing maintenance and servicing of the constructed toilet. Organisational Excellence Public Art Expenditure 2020 - 2021

Council noted the proposed Public Art expenditure in 2020/21; and noted that 0.3% of the total Council Capital Works budget in each financial year will be considered for proposals for Public Art purposes as outlined in the Baw Baw Shire Council Public Art Policy 2019.

Mid Year Budget Review 2020-2021

Council noted the Mid Year Budget Review 2020-2021.

Petitions

Councillor Kostos tabled a petition requiring Council to investigate improved green waste solutions for residents in Walhalla.

As of Wednesday 2 December 2020, Council meetings have reopened to members of the public. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a maximum of 40 community participants are able to attend Council Meetings. To assist with contract tracing, meeting attendees must register their intention to attend a meeting via this link.

Meetings will remain available to the public via live stream, and community submissions can be made in writing.
