Footpath and kerb upgrades to Clifton’s East Street are nearing completion, with works expected to be completed by the end of March, weather pending.
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Infrastructure Portfolio Leader Melissa Taylor said extensive work had been undertaken to improve conditions for the Clifton community.
“Ensuring residents are able to move freely throughout the Region is an ongoing focus for Council,” she said.
“To manage this project efficiently, work has been carried out in two parts, with the East Street concrete footpath renewal, from Grimes Street to Victoria Street, now complete.
“The East Street kerb and channel and footpath renewal, from Fisher Street to Clark Street, is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
With the Clifton upgrade almost complete Cr Melissa Taylor said it was vital Council continued to invest in active transport across the regional parts of the Toowoomba Region.
“Over the past few years we needed to invest in new infrastructure to allow for projects like the Toowoomba Bypass to progress but with this now completed, we can turn our attention to other parts of the Region,” she said.
“While major infrastructure projects are critical, it’s always pleasing to see the upgrading of our footpath network in regional areas.
“We’re focused on strengthening our regional areas with agriculture the backbone of our Region. These important projects are vital to the economic growth of our country areas and will not only enhance productivity for our rural residents but will improve the overall safety in these areas.”
