Survey now open to design a community vision for Baw Baw Shire

Published on 12 March 2021

You’re invited to share your ideas and aspirations for the Shire over the next thirty years to develop a Community Vision for Baw Baw Shire.

A community survey is now open until 2 April, asking the following key questions:

What are your long-term goals and priorities for Baw Baw Shire? What would you like to stay the same? What would you like to change? What does Baw Baw Shire need to prioritise to achieve this vision?

The outcomes of the survey will be presented to a Community Panel who will work together with Council to create a Community Vision.

This is an essential part of the Local Government Act 2020, requiring all Victorian Councils to work closely with their community to design a Community Vision.

The Act also outlines that Council’s four-year Council Plan and 10-year Financial Plan must address the Community Vision. This means that the Baw Baw Shire Community Vision will guide development of the Council and Financial Plans.

All members of the community will have the opportunity to be involved and everyone in the Shire - young and old, new residents and long-standing alike - are encouraged to share their priorities and make their opinions heard to build a genuine Community Vision for Baw Baw.

To make sure we get it right, following this community-led process, draft documents will be presented back to the community for further feedback before they being presented to Council for adoption by 31 October 2021, in line with the Local Government Act 2020.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Danny Goss

“We’re hoping to hear from as many people as we can as part of this process to make sure the Community Vision is authentic and reflects the views of our residents. The survey is open to everyone and will offer Council important insights to consider as we move ahead with this project.”
