Jindabyne Art Gallery finds new temporary home thanks to Council

Volunteers with the Jindabyne Art Gallery will soon begin moving into a new temporary space provided by Snowy Monaro Regional Council for a trial period of four months.
The gallery was facing the prospect of homelessness after only seven months of existence after having to move from their pop-up location in Nugget’s Crossing, kindly provided by the Centre Management until now.
Following communications and a meeting with the group, Council has now handed the project a temporary lifeline in the stone room adjacent to Jindabyne Memorial Hall. With a lick of paint to freshen it up, this space will provide a unique area for gallery displays and will be easily accessible from the town centre carpark and Memorial Hall area.
This is currently an important archival storage space for Council and those files will be relocated to provide a home for the gallery ahead of Easter. “We are fortunate to have some wonderful galleries in the region, volunteer and private run, such as the Bundian Way Gallery in Delegate and the Raglan Gallery in Cooma.
“Projects such as the Jindabyne Art Gallery are important in creating experiences for visitors and maintaining a vibrant community,” said Mayor Peter, Snowy Monaro Regional Council.
“The contribution of the arts to the Snowy Monaro from both an economic and community-wellbeing perspective cannot be underestimated. That’s why we’re proud to be providing Jindabyne Art Gallery with a new home for the next four months.”
