Mildura Rural City Council is offering a unique career opportunity, allowing people to work from home, care for children through some of the most important years of their lives, all the while developing lasting relationships with local families.
Becoming a Family Day Care Educator offers all of this as well as the ability to further your studies while you work.
Two free online information sessions will be held later this month to provide more information about the role:
Thursday 25 March 9.30am – 10.30am
Tuesday 30 March 6.30pm – 7.30pm
People interested in attending one of the sessions must RSVP by Tuesday 23 March. To RSVP, or for more information, call (03) 5018 8271 or email [email protected]
The sessions will provide information about what is involved in becoming an educator, as well as the opportunity to ask any questions of Family Day Care Coordination Unit members, who will be present throughout the sessions.
Councillor for Community Health and Wellbeing Cyndi Power said becoming a Family Day Care Educator offered a rewarding career with a great work/life balance.
“All you need is a warm and secure family-focused environment, and an Education and Care qualification, or motivation to study in this field,” Cr Power said.
Educators have an opportunity to apply for up to $2000 to help with any start-up costs if changes or work is required to their home.
“As a Family Day Care Educator you’re able to develop your own education programs based on the needs and interests of the individual children you’re caring for, who can be aged from six weeks to pre-teens,” Cr Power said.
“For early childhood professionals already working in a centre-based environment, becoming a Family Day Care Educator may offer the extra freedom and flexibility you’ve been looking for.
“Aside from the opportunity of a rewarding career, many of our existing Family Day Care Educators say the long-lasting bonds they develop with the children they care for, and their families, are another benefit of the role.”
While educators work independently in their homes, they are constantly supported by a skilled and qualified Coordination Unit Team, which offers help via regular home visits, meetings, training and online contact.
Positions are available across our municipality, including our region’s outlying towns and into parts of the neighbouring Wentworth Shire.
