The Cocoon Gallery for Emerging Artists at Margaret River Library is now exhibiting the latest works of Augusta artist Leanne Barker.

The exhibition, Colours and Landscapes, will launch at the Cocoon Gallery on Thursday 25 March from 6pm to 7pm, and is on display now until 30 April.

Leanne Barker has dedicated a good part of her life to painting.

The artist shares her inspiration in the form of striking colours and strokes and works with a variety of mediums, as she finds that each subject lends itself to a different approach.

“I like pastels the most because they are immediate to use and the colours are amazing,” Leanne explains.

Over the years she has participated in numerous workshops and short courses, but now she mainly works on her own style with subjects that appeal to her.

A member of the Augusta Art Group since 1996, Mrs Barker has participated in many group exhibitions.

“I have submitted work most years and have been privileged enough to win the best in exhibition a couple of times,” she said.

“One of the highlights of my artistic journey was when I had a small group showing with my daughters. I was incredibly proud.”

Colours and Landscapes is Leanne’s first solo exhibition and is on display from now until 30 April at the Cocoon Gallery for Emerging Artists.

The exhibition launch will take place on Thursday 25 March from 6pm to 7pm and all are welcome to attend with RSVPs to be sent by email to the artist on [email protected]

The Margaret River Library is an easily accessible venue and the community are welcome to view this latest exhibition at the Cocoon Gallery at any time during library opening hours.
