The State Government is asking residents to comment on the potential impacts of gas exploration in and around the Cobar Shire as part of broad-reaching survey to decide whether land should be set aside for future production.
Four tracts of land have been identified as potential sites for exploration, including the Neckarboo and Yathong Ivanhoe Troughs located south of Cobar.
The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment is looking to collect as much data as it can from locals on any key social, economic and environmental impacts the exploration of gas could have on the community as part of its Preliminary Regional Issues Assessment, which is open for comment until Friday, April 9 2021.
To find out more or how to comment read the Information Paper.
