A new farmers’ market is set to reinvigorate Hampton Street, bringing the community together with fresh quality produce every third Sunday morning of every month, 8am to 1pm.
Council is working with Sandringham Rotary Club, which has assisted in delivering the successful Bayside Farmers’ Markets for the past 10 years.
Club President Ian Wells said the introduction of the Hampton Farmers’ Market would add value to the community and to local traders.
“Farmers’ markets are great for community spirit. They bring happiness and connection to residents but also stall holders as they meet directly with their customers.”
It is the customer engagement aspect of farmers’ markets that attracted home bakery, Elwood Sourdough.
Husband and wife team Greg and Tracy started the business six years ago, and each new product takes about three months to develop to perfection.
“We love selling direct,” Greg said. “We see people’s appreciation for our product and enjoy getting to know our customers.”
“Farmers’ markets are a safe environment for the whole family to enjoy,” Tracy said.
Visit the first Hampton Street Farmers’ Market on Sunday 21 March at Willis Lane, Hampton (behind Woolworths).
