Fancy yourself as a bit of a dab hand at the clay wheel? Or always had a burning desire to learn to draw and paint but never found the right time?

Enrolments are now open for Wyreena Community Arts Centre’s Term 2 program of arts and lifestyle courses, where you can tap into your creative side or enhance your wellbeing.

Each term, Wyreena offers a range of short and regular courses in the creative arts that are tailored for absolute beginners through to the more advanced.

Wyreena’s program has something for adults and children of all abilities who wish to either learn a new arts skill, build on their existing practice or enhance their physical and mental wellbeing.

Join qualified teachers this autumn with classes for adults in painting, drawing, mosaics and pottery.

There are a host of benefits to learning to paint. It can improve your concentration, foster your creative growth, build confidence and enhance your fine motor skills.

The program also offers one-day Makers workshops, classes for adults with special needs and an age-streamed children’s art program conveniently held after school hours during school terms.

Nothing says statement piece more than a piece of jewellery you’ve made yourself. The one-day jewellery making workshop will equip you with all the silversmithing skills you need to create your own designs. Also this term are one-day workshops in portraiture drawing, lino printing, soap making and macramé, plus an opportunity to make a wall hanging planter in time for Mother’s Day with a ‘Mum’s Family Pottery’ class.

Wyreena offers a relaxed space where children as young as five can get messy, try new things and find creative expression through a range of arts workshops, including mixed media, learning to draw, painting and pottery, while an intermediate art workshop for children aged 11 and over will help those looking to develop their arts skills.

Find your path to tranquillity and wellbeing through weekly classes that explore the gentle movements and postures of Hatha Yoga, or cultivate mindful awareness of your body, mind and self with traditional meditation practice.

All classes will adhere to COVID-safe social distancing and hygiene recommendations, with a reduced number of students in some classes.

Wyreena’s 2021 Term 2 brochure is available online. You can visit the centre between 9am to 4.30pm weekdays to enrol or call Wyreena on 9294 5590, including if you wish to have a brochure emailed or sent out to you.
