Peterson Street Reserve Public Art Project
Bayside City Council 17 Mar 2021

What would you like to feel when you walk past a new public artwork in Peterson Street Reserve in Highett? Excited? Happy? Inspired? Confronted?

We would like your ideas and inspiration to inform an Artist’s Brief for a public artwork to be installed in the south west corner of the reserve, near the skate park. We’d like you to help us by letting us know what kind of public artwork inspires you and will enhance and contribute to the evolving sense of place and identity at Peterson Street Reserve.

You may have thoughts about the type of artwork (ie. abstract or figurative), material to be used or the general theme. Following an Expression of Interest and tender process we will be asking an artist to create something that will capture your imagination, become a landmark for the area and engages people in conversation.

Of course, it’s art and we probably won’t please everyone but we’re going to try.

We welcome your ideas online via our engagement platform bayside.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay or you can come and chat to Council officers onsite at Peterson Reserve on Sunday 28 March between 2 – 4 pm and give us your feedback directly.

We will be onsite where the public artwork is to be installed unless it is raining then we will take cover at the Peterson Street Youth Centre.
