Mareeba Shire Council is currently recruiting for labourers to join our Construction & Maintenance – Bridge/Concrete crew. The successful applicants will provide high level labouring skills to assist with the delivery of day to day road and bridge maintenance and construction activities within the Mareeba Shire. The duties include operating mobile plant and performing manual handling tasks. Maintenance of a safe working environment and application of correct manual handling techniques are essential requirements for this labouring position.
The position calls for physically demanding work to be undertaken in a hot and humid climate on a day to day basis. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to ensure they are and remain physically fit and able to efficiently and consistently undertake these tasks. Council may require applicants to undergo a full physical pre-employment medical examination which includes drug and alcohol testing. The incumbent is also required to maintain their weight at or below the Safe Working Load (SWL) for the seat of the machinery and equipment the position is required to operate.
The successful candidate is willing and able to undertake manual handling and labouring tasks in a safe manner, has sound knowledge about concreting, road works or building works and is an effective team player.
