Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has adopted its Register of Fees and Charges and the Register of Cost Recovery Fees and Charges for the 2021/22 financial year.
In adopting the item, TRC Finance and Business Strategy Committee Chair Cr Geoff McDonald said Council had made a concerted effort to take the impact of COVID-19 into consideration.
“There is no doubt it’s been a challenging year for everyone,” Cr McDonald said.
“As such, we have carefully considered any changes needed to fees and charges for the coming year.
“An example of this is to continue providing a subsidy on Card Surcharge Fees. We will provide a 50% subsidy of the standard charge of 0.33% as a continued response to COVID-19.”
As part of the new fees, which come into effect from 1 July 2021, Council has also made changes to the pricing structure for water standpipes.
TRC Water and Waste Committee Portfolio Leader Cr Rebecca Vonhoff said Council was ensuring there were standardised fees in place for those connected to the Toowoomba Water Bulk Supply and those who weren’t.
“While there may be an increase for certain parts of the Region, there will also be a saving for others. Most importantly, it’s about providing consistency across the board which is important to our residents,” she said.
“Areas such as Wyreema will see a noticeable decrease from the price they are currently paying.”
The fee for residents connected to the Toowoomba Water Bulk Supply is $4.20 per kL and for those not connected to this system, it will be $2.60 per kL.
