New library-gallery name revealed
City of Wodonga 19 Mar 2021

The new Wodonga library-gallery will be named Hyphen.

The name, which was developed through an internal process and taken from a wide pool of options, reflects the connection between the building’s twin purposes, the two cities and the building’s amazing architecture.

The community can see a sneak peek inside the new building which is presently being fit out via a video tour.

Wodonga Mayor Cr Kev Poulton said it was a unique name for a unique building.

“This name reflects its role connecting art and literature as well as referencing the building’s dash-like shape”, he said.

The new library gallery will be a leading regional hub, a place for creativity, connection and curiosity, which is accessible and inspiring.

Manager Community Development and Planning Huw Brokensha said the facility would be contemporary, fun and friendly.

“We want it to be your community lounge room, where you can enjoy diverse experiences in a welcoming environment,” he said.

“We look forward in the coming months to sharing the exciting programs, activities and exhibitions that will be a part of Hyphen when it opens later this year.”
