Council continues to work with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to assess the impacted sites on Waterfall Way to ensure recovery works can progress safely. In the meantime, Waterfall Way will remain closed to all traffic between Maynards Plains Road and Boggy Creek. Further, Council encourages the community not to undertake any non-essential travel or to access the mountain at this time as the road is closed.
In addition, Council’s resilience officers have set up a stall outside the IGA in Bellingen to provide information to residents and receive any requests for assistance and to coordinate distributed advice via the Neighbourhood Care Network and our resilience Facebook page to assist in ensuring residents can readily access up to date information.
The weather forecasts for later today are indicating significant additional rainfall, so Council urges everyone to stay home and safe unless travel is absolutely necessary and to continue to monitor information via our Shire’s Disaster Dashboard. To access our Shire’s Disaster Dashboard, simply click here or go to Bellingen Shire Council’s website at www.bellingen.nsw.gov.au and click on the Disaster Dashboard link prominently located on the website’s Home Page.
