Snowy Monaro Regional Council has announced the opening of the application period for the latest round of donations and sponsorships for local community groups and organisations.
Applications for the July to December 2021 funding period open 8.30am Thursday 1 April 2021 and close 11.59pm Thursday 13th May 2021.
“Our region has a reputation for community-mindedness and this round of donations and sponsorship demonstrates Council’s commitment to fostering and encouraging the incredible work of our community groups,” said Mayor Peter Beer.
“Across the Snowy Monaro, from longstanding and beloved groups such as the Lions Clubs, through to newer initiatives making a big impact like our town and village cleanup days, Council is proud to support our community with this program of funding.”
With tens of thousands of dollars awarded during this donations and sponsorships period, the funding provided will give a much-needed boost to the region’s civic groups. Flow-on effects from the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted the Snowy Monaro, and these groups and organisations will play a key role in helping individuals, and the region, recover.
Funding for January to June 2021 was awarded to 27 successful applicants. Applications totalling $273,000 were received for a total funding round of $50,000 to be distributed. Showcasing the diversity of the region’s community spirit, groups ranging from the Bombala Historic Engine & Machinery Society through to the Jindabyne Trail Stewardship received Council support in the latest round. Previously unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to reapply noting that the last round was clearly very popular from all corners of the region.
