The beach at Red Bluff Cliffs Black Rock, is closed for emergency works in response to significant storm damage and sand loss.
Council has fenced the area from Eliza and Red Bluff Streets Black Rock, to prevent public access to the beach with works are underway.
The works include:
Moving exposed concrete rubble from the fence line. Repairing the damaged fence. Removal and disposal of contaminated material located in concrete slabs at this site.A specialist, qualified asbestos hygienist will monitor the site during containment works and will reinspect the site once all slabs have been moved.
Council will reopen the beach following completion of the fencing and concrete removal works. These works are anticipated to be completed by Tuesday 30 March 2021.
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) will need to close the beach again following Easter to undertake beach renourishment at this site, we anticipate all works will be completed and the beach will reopen again in late April 2021.
