WENDY TUCKERMAN: New roofs for 19 schools

Official Media Release from the office of Wendy Tuckerman Tuesday, 23 March 2021

A total of 19 schools across the Goulburn electorate are receiving new roofs from the Liberal & Nationals Government $60 million Roof Replacement Program.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman MP celebrated the news that 19 schools would be part of the program and that students will benefit from the updated facilities in the near future.

“The NSW Government’s Roof Replacement Program is designed for regional communities, improving our schools and supporting local businesses,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

“I’m thrilled that so many Goulburn schools will be included in this program, and also that businesses in our area can also benefit from the investment, helping to stimulate economic growth and support regional communities as we recover from COVID-19.”

The following schools will be benefiting from the program: Yass High, Boorowa Central, Berinba Public, Exeter Public, Robertson Public, Goulburn East Public, Moss Vale High, Bradfordville Public, Sutton Public, Crookwell High, Bigga Public, Binalong Public, Goulburn High, Berrima Public, Avoca Public, Laggan Public, Kangaloon Public, Crookwell Public, and Yass Public.

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said the funding will benefit local communities by supporting more than 300 jobs across regional NSW.

“The Roof Replacement Program will benefit hundreds of our regional schools,” Ms Mitchell said.

“Schools do not need to apply, the program will be prioritised by the needs of the school and community benefits.”

The program will utilise the Local Trades Scheme, a new online platform allowing local tradespeople to engage directly with government to bid for maintenance work at schools in their local communities. The NSW Government is investing $7 billion over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver more than 200 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW.

This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
