Our Community Education and Compliance Department has an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Environmental Health Officer based in Moranbah to join the team on a permanent full-time basis.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will experience a diverse role working across all aspects of environmental health functions including:

food safety inspections in accordance with the Food Act 2006 and Food Safety Standards of all licensable food businesses and provide education, guidance and enforcement depending on risk and significance. legislative compliance inspections in accordance with the Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2003 of all higher risk skin penetration premises (including tattooists, beauty salons, hairdressers) investigate and respond to public health concerns as defined under the Public Health Act 2005. investigate and respond to littering and illegal dumping occurrences as defined under the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011. environmental monitoring and enforcement in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1994, responding to odour, water, noise, and pollution incidents.

The successful candidate will have:

Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying relevant legislation to undertake the position specific accountabilities of an Environmental Health Officer. Proven ability to plan and implement community programs, projects and training, including the ability to develop and maintain business and industry partnerships; Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to consistently achieve goals, work autonomously and prioritise work tasks to achieve program objectives; High-level written and interpersonal skills including advanced negotiation, liaison and mediation skills; Demonstrated research, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills transferrable to this position.

For this position we offer:

Salary $78,631.73 per annum plus allowances; 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading; 12% super in accordance with Council Policy; RDO’s in accordance with Council policy; Based in Moranbah.
