Established in 1878, the heritage-listed Cooktown Botanic Gardens are one of Queensland's oldest regional botanic gardens. Located just 1.5 km from the centre of Cooktown, and showcasing many of the unique plants and species the region is known for, the gardens also feature a collection of species traditionally used by the local Aboriginal people; a rare and threatened plant showcase and a collection of some of the species collected by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander in 1770.
Right now, Cook Shire Council are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced horticultural visionary to curate and coordinate the operations of the gardens. Paradise awaits. Apply now at www.cook.qld.gov.au/work
