Moree Plains Flood Update 11.35am, Wednesday 24 March 2021

At a meeting of the Local Emergency Management Committee earlier this evening, it was confirmed that a major flooding event is anticipated for the Mehi River, Moree in the coming 12-24hrs.

NSW SES have issued the below Evacuation Order.

FOR RESIDENTS SUBJECT TO EVACUATION ORDERS:

• Vehicles should be moved to higher ground. If you have no alternative arrangements, vehicles can be parked around Taylor Oval. This area will be patrolled by police. • Do not park on Taylor Oval. Taylor Oval needs to be available for helicopter assets. • Sandbags are currently available for collection from the SES Depot, Tycannah Street (next to the Moree Plains Shire Council Depot). Priority will be given to those residents the subject of the evacuation order. • From 7am Wednesday 24 March 2021, sandbags will be available for collection from Taylor Oval. • Council has no capacity for any additional animals at the Moree Pound. If you have any pets, you will need to make alternate arrangements.

As the rain continues and waterways continue to rise, we urge our community to take care in the conditions. Only travel if you absolutely need to, now is not the time to be driving around unnecessarily. Follow all signage in place, drive to conditions and remember, if it's flooded FORGET IT!
