To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 24 March ordinary meeting.

Vibrant Communities Drouin Township Plan Implementation - Planning Scheme Amendment to ensure consistency with the Township Plan

Council moved to authorise officers to seek authorisation from the Minister for Planning to prepare a Planning Scheme Amendment to amend Schedule 2 to the Design and Development Overlay of the Baw Baw Planning Scheme under Section 8A(4)(a) of the Planning and Environment Act 1987(the Act). Council authorised officers to prepare the proposed amendment and exhibit the amendment in accordance with Section 19 of the Act.

Youth Strategy Year 1 Review and Year 2 Action Plan

Council noted the progress of the Springboard FreeZa program October 2019 - January 2021 and adopted the Year 2 Action Plan of the Building the Best Years Youth Strategy 2018-2022.

Road Management Plan Review

Council endorsed the revised Draft Road Management Plan and moved to place the plan on public exhibition from 25 March until 25 April 2021.

Tender Recommendation Report for Western Park Oval Stormwater Irrigation Upgrade Project

Council awarded the tender for the Western Park Oval Stormwater Irrigation Upgrade Project to Beachley Constructions Pty Ltd for the total sum of $643,296 (excluding GST) and moved to reallocate $130,000 of funds from the 2020/21 Community Facilities Renewal Program to cover the projected budget shortfall. Council delegated authority to the CEO to sign the contract documents once prepared to execute the awarding of the contract.

Safe and Sustainable Environments

Weed Management Strategy 2020-2025

Council adopted the revised Weed Management Strategy 2020-2025 and allocated a sum of $5,000 additional operating budget per year, as part of the 2021-2022 budget process, for the five-year life of the strategy to enable its implementation. 

Petitions

Councillor Wallace tabled a petition from residents requesting the sealing of 900 metres of Yulungah Road, Trafalgar. 

General Business Motion

Councillor Kostos raised a General Business Motion to thank Rosemary Blackley and Liz Jenz for their service on the Place Names Advisory Committee.

CEO General Business Motion

CEO Mark Dupe raised a CEO General Business Motion to defer the response report of the General Business Motion on Council Rates Penalty Interest.

As of Wednesday 2 December 2020, Council meetings have reopened to members of the public. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a maximum of 40 community participants are able to attend Council Meetings. To assist with contract tracing, meeting attendees must register their intention to attend a meeting via this link.

Meetings will remain available to the public via live stream, and community submissions can be made in writing.

The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
