Ceramic classes, creative writing workshops and the launch of an Anime and Manga Appreciation Club are just some of the highlights of Campbelltown’s Youth Week program, 16-24 April.
This year’s theme ‘Together more than ever’ speaks to the importance of young people sharing experiences and developing connections during the recent challenging times.
“Young people have been heavily impacted by the restrictions brought about by the COVID pandemic in a way that no one could have foreseen,” said Mayor George Brticevic.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate the resilience and individuality of our young people and a way for them to explore their interests,” Cr Brticevic said.
The diversity of events will be available from day one, with people aged 12 to 25 years invited to a a collaborative art activity and a workshop about changing tyres on Friday 16 April.
“Whether you’re into art, music, gaming or food, it’s got that right mix of creativity and health and fitness for young people,” Cr Brticevic said.
Galmatic will get the tyres moving with a ‘How to Change a Tyre’ workshop on Friday, 16 April, at HJ Daley Library from 2pm to 2:45pm and 2:45pm to 3:30pm.
HSC students are invited to Eagle Vale library to get advice, tips and feedback on their creative writing skills on Friday 16 April from 11am to 1pm.
The Anime and Manga Appreciation Club will launch on Wednesday 21 April at HJ Daley Library from 6pm through to 7:30pm. All fandoms and noobs are welcome to come along and share their love of anime and manga with like-minded people.
People can learn how to set up their finances for success at the ‘Making Money Matter’ workshop at Greg Percival Library on Thursday 22 April, 5pm to 6:30pm.
The Campbelltown Arts Centre will be running a colossal collaborative community self-portrait and free ceramics classes for young people to book in and get creative.
