Popular ABC presenter Cassie McCullagh will host two live broadcasts of her mid-morning Focus program from Liverpool City Library on Monday 29 March and Friday 16 April.
These live broadcasts follow the recent launch of the ABC’s month-long pop-up newsroom in Moore Street, Liverpool, further strengthening the national broadcaster’s engagement with the local community by telling local stories in local voices.
The Focus program will be broadcast on the first floor of Liverpool City Library. Members of the public will be able to attend in person and mingle with Ms McCullagh at the conclusion of the program.
Each weekday morning from 10-11am, ABC’s Focus program keeps listeners informed and entertained with local Sydney stories, political insights and engaging discussions with everyone from politicians to ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Focus presenter Cassie McCullagh grew up in Sydney and is a presenter, journalist and writer. Since joining the ABC in 2007 she has presented and produced a wide range of programs for Radio National, Local Radio and Classic FM.
Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said this is a special opportunity for members of the community to have a rare behind-the-scenes experience with our national broadcaster.
“We are proud to host the ABC in our great city over the next month. We are excited by the prospect that members of our community have the opportunity to read compelling local stories as well as get involved in live broadcasts happening at the library and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
“I invite everyone to get involved and engage however they can – whether it’s attending one of the live broadcasts at the library or tuning into the program via 702AM or the ABC Listen app.”
ABC Radio Sydney Manager Melanie Withnall said the ABC is looking forward to bringing this experience to Liverpool locals.
“Breaking out of the studio every now and then is a great way for us to interact with our listeners. We are thrilled to engage with members of the Liverpool community and get firsthand insights into the stories and conversations that resonate most with them.”
