Book your hard waste collection before Easter holiday period

Maroondah residents planning a clean-up over the Easter period are urged to book Council’s on-call hard waste collection service early to avoid missing out.

Two hard waste collections are available each financial year to residents who pay a residential bin charge. You can book a single or use both collections at once.

Due to the Good Friday public holiday on 2 April, booking dates have changed and you will need to get in early if you want to make a booking for the following week.

Council’s on-call hard rubbish collection is a waste disposal and recycling service for items that are too large to dispose of through your regular household waste bin.

Bookings must be made before placing your waste on the nature strip. Please ensure hard waste is not placed out any earlier than the weekend before a scheduled collection.

Residents are also reminded to stick to the collection size limits. Excess material will not be collected and must be removed from the nature strip as soon as possible.

Before you place your hard waste out for collection, please consider if any items are still in good, working condition and could be reused. There are a range of options for these types of items including charity stores and recycling groups. You might want to check to see who is currently accepting donations.

Hard waste collection tips place any small or loose items in cardboard boxes, don’t use bags there must be no more than two cubic metres per collection. Two cubic metres is two metres in length, one metre in depth and one metre in height place your mattress to the side of your pile place all e-waste together make sure there are no hazardous or unacceptable materials uncollected items must be removed from nature strips within 24 hours of collection.
