New playgrounds on the way for Longwarry and Yarragon

Baw Baw families will soon have new and upgraded playgrounds to explore in Memorial Park, Longwarry and Howard Park, Yarragon.

Existing playgrounds at both sites will be removed next month before the new play equipment is installed and ready to climb in early May.

Longwarry’s new Memorial Park playground will feature a double slide for bigger kids, a junior slide for little ones and climbing nets, climbing bars, two swings, nest swing and a nature play area.

Yarragon’s upgraded Howard Park playground will boast three slides, monkey bars, spider climbing net and a rock-climbing feature wall. The existing shade sails will be replaced as part of the upgrade.

Both playground designs were directly shaped by community feedback received in late 2020.

Council also engaged directly with the playground experts in local schools and kindergartens to get input from those whose opinions matter most.

The renewals form part of Council’s $32.2 million budget for infrastructure works this financial year.
