The Gannawarra Library Service’s popular author talks program will resume next month, headlined by the visit from Miles Franklin Literacy Award winning author, Sofie Laguna.
The author of The Eye of the Sheep and One Foot Wrong, Ms Laguna will talk about her career and her new book, Infinite Splendours, at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Tuesday, 11 May at 10.30am.
“The Gannawarra Library Service’s book talk program connects residents with authors, with these intimate sessions enabling attendees to learn about what inspires this nation’s talented storytellers,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Sofie will speak about her journey as an author, which began as a children’s writer and has expanded to the adult fiction market, with her awarding of the Miles Franklin Literacy Award in 2015 putting Sofie in the same company as renowned Australian authors Thea Astley, Peter Carey, Tim Winton and Thomas Keneally.”
Booking to attend this free event is essential, which can be done by phoning (03) 5452 1546.
“Those attending will be required to adhere to the various COVIDsafe measures in place. These include providing contact details upon arrival and socially distancing,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“Most importantly, if you are not well on the day of the event, please stay at home.”
