Easter Weekend

With the earlier publishing deadline this week I’m writing this column before the long weekend. So I trust by the time you’re reading this everyone enjoyed a wonderful Easter and got out to visit the many different events that took place in our region - including Lake Light Sculpture in Jindabyne, the Easter Fairs in Adaminaby and Berridale, and the Bredbo Truck and Machinery Show.

I send out my thanks and congratulations to the organising committees for these events.

Have your say

We have a couple of key projects – namely the Draft Resource and Waste Management Strategy and the New Rates Structure – currently out for consultation and I encourage all community members to ensure they take a look and provide their feedback. We have nine community meetings throughout the region to present the Resources and Waste Management Strategy and there will be details soon on community sessions for the new rates consultation. Make sure your opinions are heard either by coming along to one of the public sessions, sending us your feedback (in person at our offices, or post or email) or by jumping onto the online forums at www.yoursaysnowymonaro.com.au

Bush Fire Recovery Grants Program

We have extended the deadline for the Community Bush Fire Recovery Grants program to Friday 16 April 2021.

Under the program grants of $1000 to $5000 are available for community led and focused initiatives that help our region to continue to recover from the impacts of the Black Summer fires. For more information see www.yoursaysnowymonaro.com.au/snowy-monaro-community-bush-fire-recovery-grants

Donations & Sponsorships

Applications are also now open for Council’s next round of donations and sponsorships. There are unfortunately always far more requests than we are able to fund – but I encourage all community groups and organisations to get their applications in before the cut off at 11.59pm Thursday 13 May 2021. In closing this week I hope that everyone enjoys the rest of their school holidays. And for those looking for some activities for the kids take a look at our website and Facebook page for details of the school holiday programs organised by our libraries and youth team.
