The City of Fremantle is hosting an innovative youth forum and bringing together the most passionate young people from all over town during Youth Week WA 2021.
‘The Future by Freo Youth’ will be held on Friday 16 April from 1–4pm at the Fremantle Park Sport and Community Centre.
Delivered by Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA), the forum gives young people the opportunity to have their views heard and help shape the decisions that impact them.
The forum will be the focus of Fremantle’s Youth Week celebrations in 2021 and is in line with this year’s theme ‘Our Path’.
Held from 9–16 April, Youth Week WA is an annual state-wide celebration of the positive contributions young people make to their community.
City of Fremantle Director of Community Development Michelle Brennand said this event was highly anticipated following the cancellation of last year’s Fremantle Youth Climate Forum due to COVID-19.
“Young people aged 12 to 25 with a connection to Fremantle, including those who live, work, teach, study, play sport or coach sport locally, are encouraged to attend. Your input at the forum will play an important role in our commitment to making Freo a youth-friendly city,” Ms Brennand said.
“Your ticket to the forum guarantees you a meaningful seat at the table in shaping the City of Fremantle’s future direction for young people.
“Attendees can expect to be inspired by young leaders working hard to better the future of our planet; share their own stories; come away from the forum with the support and new skills to create meaningful change; and connect with other passionate, fearless and empowered young people.
“Fremantle’s youth community represents such a diverse group of people and we look forward to welcoming their ideas at the forum.”
‘The Future by Freo Youth’ forum is a free event, and is inclusive of all abilities, race, cultural backgrounds, religions, sexuality and gender.
