Community encouraged to contribute to Longwarry Structure Plan

Longwarry community members are encouraged to consider the future needs of their town to guide the development of a Longwarry Structure Plan.

Council is in the early stages of preparing the draft plan and is hosting two drop-in sessions this month for the community to identify any issues or opportunities within the town and to share their ideas about improvements for the town. 

Further community consultation will take place over the coming months, with a background report to be made available later this month.

The structure planning process is looking to identify potential locations for the future growth of Longwarry, while considering employment opportunities, infrastructure, flooding issues and traffic flows in and around the town.

Longwarry has experienced moderate population growth over the past decade, increasing the need for community services, facilities and local employment. Council has decided to move ahead with the plan to ensure that future development is in keeping with the needs of the community.

Once completed, the recommendations of the plan will guide formal revisions to the Baw Baw Planning Scheme to introduce appropriate and relevant planning controls.
