Families will be able to attend the Gannawarra Library Service’s popular Rhyme Time and Story Time programs for the first time in 12 months from Tuesday, 20 April.
The programs, which aim to develop a passion for stories for children aged from six months through to kindergarten, moved from in-person sessions to online in April 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“Thanks to the ingenuity of our staff, families were able to enjoy the fun and excitement of the Rhyme Time and Story Time programs from the comfort of home during 2020, with sessions broadcast via the Gannawarra Library Service’s Facebook page,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“With the easing of these restrictions, staff are looking forward to welcoming families back to the Cohuna Library and Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library for this popular program.”
Story Time sessions, which foster a love of books and reading for three-year-old and four-year-old kindergarten children, will occur from 10.30am Tuesdays at the Cohuna Library and 10.30am Thursdays at the Sir John Gorton Library during school terms.
The Rhyme Time program, which assist in developing early language, literacy and numeracy skills for children under three years of age, will occur at 10.30am Wednesdays at the Sir John Gorton Library between 21 April and 26 May.
“Those attending will be required to adhere to the various COVIDsafe measures in place. These include providing contact details upon arrival and socially distancing,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“Most importantly, if you are not well on the day of the event, please stay at home.”
