The Big Chill Beer and Barbecue Festival is on the hunt for barbecue connoisseurs to take part in the cook-off competitions set to be held during the exciting two - day festival on May 15 and 16 2021.
The jam - packed weekend will include the Steak Cook-off Association (SCA) sanctioned Steak Cook-off Round and the Australasian Barbecue Alliance sanctioned Championship Round which will see barbecue enthusiasts travel from far and wide to compete for the top spot.
Armidale Regional Council’s General Manager James Roncon said competing is a great way to get involved in the festival.
“What better way to enjoy the Big Chill Beer and Barbecue Festival than to spend it tongs in hand cooking up some mouth-watering barbecue creations,” Mr Roncon said.
“The Steak Cook-off Association and the Australasian Barbecue Alliance have established themselves as leaders in the barbecuing industry, so it is fantastic they can be a part of the Big Chill Festival.”
If you pride yourself on your taste buds rather than your cooking abilities, members of the public can also sign up to be a judge for either competition. Entries for both judges and competitors can be submitted via the Big Chill website, and no experience is necessary.
If you simply want to come along, chill out, and enjoy the festival amongst Armidale’s picturesque Autumn setting, tickets are still available to purchase via the Big Chill website.
“The cooler months are a standout time of year for our region, so make sure you invite your friends and family to come and enjoy a locally brewed craft beer and a warming barbecue meal in a festival setting,” said Mr Roncon.
“After a tough year of events being cancelled due to COVID-19, let’s all come together and make this inaugural festival the best that it can be.”

The Big Chill Beer and Barbecue Festival was made possible by an $80,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Bushfire Community Resilience and Economic Recovery Fund.
