Cardinia Shire Council officially opened the Comely Banks Pavilion in Officer today.
The new pavilion features unisex change room facilities, unisex umpires change facilities, fully accessible exterior/interior amenities, kiosk/canteen facilities, integrated community space, and an external covered area.
Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Councillor Brett Owen officially opened the new pavilion with Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing MP.
“This is an exciting addition for the fast-growing Officer community and surrounding areas,” Cr Owen said.
“These new facilities will help serve the sport and recreation needs of our community now and into the future.”
Officer Ward Councillor Tammy Radford said the pavilion would soon be complemented with four multisport rugby league fields and a multipurpose cricket practice facility.
“These works are continuing here and are expected to be completed in July 2021 and after a maintenance schedule, will then be open for use in July 2022,” Cr Radford said.
“This next stage of the shire’s newest community and sport precinct will also include a playground, open spaces and onsite car parking.”
The pavilion was funded through the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund ($3.5 million) and Cardinia Shire Council ($4.088 million).
