Lithgow City Council and Lithgow Red Cross were proud to deliver the Get Ready Seniors talk on emergency preparedness to community members as part of Seniors Week 2021.
The Covid-safe event saw 45 seniors, volunteers and carers come together to receive information about preparing and planning for emergencies.
Seniors heard from Lyn Mickklesson from the Lithgow Red Cross on the evacuations during the bushfires and worked through the REDiKit resource to help plan their own grab and go checklists. Participants also received basic items to start their own individual emergency kits.
“We were thrilled to be able to offer this event in partnership with the Lithgow Red Cross to help our senior community members” Community Recovery Officer Rachel Nicoll said.
Lithgow City Council would like to thank Lithgow’s Red Cross volunteers, the Lithgow Workmen’s Club and the NSW State Government through Resilience NSW as part of the Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund in delivering the event.
